Wish the attachments were longer to cover the rough edges of Velcro against the skin.
Our really really old Lab mix has an auto immune disease which causes itchy spots and hair loss. (No worries, he gets his meds and we control it pretty well) In order to keep him from harming himself by scratching or chewing on those spots he wears his little coat.
This is the absolute best in his collection of coats. When it's cold he is nice warm, he can't get to the skin when scratching and I can easily find him in the dark due to the reflective stripes.
What really makes me happy is that he seems to be absolute comfortable in his coat and he even can happily play with the other dogs without his sensitive skin being hurt by their claws.
Tebow, our male Doberman, has very thin fur. He’s cold from October through May if he doesn’t have his Derby Originals outerwear on at all times. It’s no joke when you have a giant brown baby shivering and whining, so 2 years ago we set off on the journey to find him some QUALITY outerwear that would fit his very deep chest, provide warmth, and be durable enough to withstand some serious roughhousing with neighborhood dogs on a daily basis.
I tried several companies before finding Derby Originals. Either the coats/sweaters didn’t fit, or they were so poorly made they wouldn’t have lasted a week with normal wear and tear. We purchased 2 of Derby Originals 1200D Waterproof Winter Coats (size 26.5). They’re still going strong entering their third year of heavy use.
Recently we purchased the heavier Derby Originals Reflective Parka, and are very impressed with how well-made it is.
Today we received 2 of these Fleece Cold Weather Adventure Sweaters. Tebow can wear them by themselves or layered under the coats. They’re super soft and plushy and will really keep him toasty. Another Derby Originals winner! I would definitely recommend this product, as well as all the Derby Originals line!!!!!
Well I have purchased 3 of these and the 3 dogs love their jackets when it gets cold outside. So far they have lasted 2 years of tug tug playing with each other as they grab the fabric. Holding up well!
These work really well out here in the country. You will need to brush the inside of the coat if your dog wonders in the tall grass. A small stiff nail brush work great. Barbed wire takes a toll after awhile, but the cost is low and the product is good so we always have a spare in case I just can't repair (sew or duct tape) the rips any more. Oh yea, the dog doesn't mind wearing it either.
