If anything would be nice to have one more hole to make the neck opening smaller and a piece of Velcro on the flap part of the coat right before the Velcro strap. I pull the belly stap tighter than the current Velcro is designed to fit snug. I have the 26” and the length is perfect to cover my pups bum vs being short 2 or so inches.
Holds up to GSD ruff play and out at the dog park.
Originally ordered 2, but the 22” one although a smaller neck opening and smaller belly strap didn’t cover the sides and bum the way the 26” does.
So I ordered yet a third coat.
Also would have liked the bright yellow or orange color, but this style doesn’t come in those colors.
I bought 5 of these coats and have found that they do not fit great on dogs that are narrow with deep chest or bigger bellies. It leaves too much space at the neck even in the tightest fitting and the Velcro belly strap does not reach well. I have made my own belly extender but am still attempting to find a way to solve the neck fit issue. They will definitely be warm enough even in my Canadian climate once I can adjust the fit. The length is perfect though. Too expensive to return and try another blanket with shipping and duties.
This is the second Derby coat I’ve bought for my dogs. It’s just wonderful! Warm, well fitting, and protective of my sweet dogs.
This jacket is clearly designed with horse experience. The chest adjustments allow for wide and narrow chest sizes, the girth strap has plenty of adjustment length and the pleating in shoulders and rump help maintain fit in all circumstances. The inside is comfortably soft and easy to keep clean while the outside has been very durable. The outside isn't waterproof but it is water repelling and does dry quickly. The jacket maintains a great fit squeezed into tight spaces on planes or outside jumping around.
Use the measurement guide as it was very true to represented size.
I love that the girth velcro is connected on both sides but i do wish the loop portion (soft velcro) had a tab on the end to ease jacket removal.
